Faux Tile Technique!

I have been busy in my stamp studio today preparing all of the projects for my Techniques Class for tonight.  I am just about ready – just have to get my display board ready for everyone to snap pictures of and I am set and excited to share 4 new techniques to some excited stampers tonight – Woo Hoo!

Here is one that I received at Stampin' Up! Convention last week and unfortunately, no name was on the back to give credit to her!  But, I call it the faux tile technique and I hope that you enjoy it.  My goal is to complete a step by step video so that you can see the process to take it from start to finish.  Look forward to your thoughts by posting below my signature line or sending me an email – I would love to hear them!

Everything Eleanor

Supplies:

  • Everything Eleanor stamp set
  • Perfectly Penned stamp set
  • Strawberry Slush stamp pad
  • Baked Brown Sugar stamp pad
  • Simply Scored
  • Scallop trim border punch
  • Crystal effects

Card Stock:

  • Baked brown sugar – cut one piece at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and fold in half for base of card
  • Cherry cobbler – cut one piece at 2 1/2" x 5 1/4"
  • Whisper white – cut one piece at 2 1/4" x 5", cut one piece at 3 3/4" x 5"  and one piece at 1" x 5 1/4"

Step by Step:

  1. Score the 2 1/4" x 5" whisper white card stock on the long side every 3/4".  Turn the card stock around and score every 3/4".  Attach to the 2 1/2" x 5 1/4" cherry cobbler card stock.
  2. Punch out the edge of the 1" x 5 1/4" whisper white card stock using the scallop trim border punch.  Attach to the bottom of the 2 pieces of card stock in #1 above.
  3. Stamp a random pattern of flowers from the Everything Eleanor stamp set onto the scored whisper white card stock using strawberry slush ink.  Take the swirl from the Everything Eleanor stamp set and ink up using the baked brown sugar stamp pad and stamp as shown above.  Attach all to the front of the baked brown sugar – base of card.
  4. Stamp "Happy Birthday" from the Perfectly Penned stamp set onto the bottom center of the baked brown sugar – base of card using baked brown sugar stamp pad.
  5. For the inside of the card, again, using the flowers and swirl – stamp the inside of the card by using the 3 3/4" x 5" whisper white card stock.  Punch out the edge of the whisper white card stock using the scallop trip border punch – this piece of card stock gets attached to the inside of the card.
  6. Using your crystal effects, put little dots in the center of the flowers to create dimension.  On either side of the "Happy Birthday" create a little heart from the crystal effects.    Allow to dry.
  7. Your card is finished!
